Ep 26 - Lorena Perez Batista and being a She-Drummer!

Hello listenters! This week we had a fun conversation with Lorena Perez Batista.

Lorena started her musical journey at an early age in her hometown Punto Fijo, Venezuela. Lorena studied Drums and Commercial Music at Miami Dade College, and a few years later received a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston.

After moving to Los Angeles in 2014, Lorena participated in the worldwide female competition “Hit Like A Girl,” she earned the most popular votes and ended the competition in the top 5 contestants. This competition gave Lorena the opportunity to explore a new side of her as a writer for “Tom Tom Magazine.” Also, Lorena became a spokeswoman for “Hit Like A Girl” to expand awareness of female drummers and increase their participation worldwide. Thanks to the exposure and  hard work, Lorena is endorsed by the artisan-handcrafted drums “Gaai”, a unique Japanese brand made in the United States by Gaai Nakamura.

Lastly, Lorena has also worked as a drummer and orchestrator with award winning Films & TV shows and now she is focused on drumming and orchestrating an animated series for Netflix.
